UmbracoCast no 9 - the family grows...

Monday, May 25, 2009 by Administrator

Watch this new UmbracoCast to see that our little family will finally get a new member on August 1st 2009. But you'll need to watch three minutes of Per Ploug Hansen and yours truly mumble about CodeGarden 09, Umbraco 4.0.2 and Paul Sterlings US events first.

Missed any previous UmbracoCasts? Now we finally have an archive of all old videos.

As always got to love the cheesy music - thats the only reason I am actaully going to CodeGarden this year ;)

Like the Video Archive site a nice new addition to the umbraco family, as I can finally subscribe to a podcast of these videos and watch them on the move :)

Anyway how lucky were you just to find Tim walking the streets and not some random other person ;)

Congratulations to you all, Umbraco keepts getting better and better. I look forward to see what you all come up with in the future.

    Warren :)

    Hello,

I will post here because I don't know where else to send feedback. Do you people seriously think I will PAY money to watch tutorial videos about your CMS?! We could have chosen Umbraco for all future development, but this is so borderline insane in todays world of open information exchange, that Umbraco was off our shortlist in a matter of seconds when we saw that.

If you want to sell a product, don't ask money for seeing the advertisement...

    Cheers!

Haha, even IF we would pay to see videos before we even have used Umbraco, listen to this:

"The personal version of umbraco.tv is licensed to one individual and the account and videos may not be shared."

Great work guys. Restricting freedoms is always great fun isn't it? How do you think people would decide to use Umbraco, if they can't even say to their CEO:

"Here, watch this video to see how powerful it is!"

Noooo, no sir, you cannot let other people watch this video!

Unbelievable. I think I'm going to watch some videos on Youtube. I heard it's very a popular website with videos, I wonder why that is?

    Fail!

@Mike: We do have corporate video accounts that can be shared among colleagues.

The videos on umbraco.tv is not advertising videos, but over six hours of training videos that will learn developers to master Umbraco. For a mere of 19EUR a month, I'd say it's a steal. Luckily for us most people agree and willing to pay for quality content which means that we can finance the development of Umbraco. But enjoy YouTube and say hi to Susan Boyle from me, will ya' ;-)

Hmm, I guess you guys really don't understand. I wouldn't watch Susan Boyle, I would watch screencasts, educational videos about software, frameworks etc that allow me to judge how it works, if it's applicable, if it's worth investing time and resources into a product.

You are not understanding some (many?) developers and how they evaluate products. These developers ultimately make recommendations .

Why do you think Microsoft does Channel 9?

Don't be ridiculous to say that I would go to YouTube for Susan Doyle man, I am in the middle of evaluating .NET CMSs, free and paid, to create many websites.

You missed an potential client, and now it's gone. All because you want 19 dollars from me, and I can't even show the videos to my coworker or boss!! (You know, to discuss if this would be a good way to work in the future.)

Your loss really, It seems a real silly way to make money in this business, and a good way not to get new customers.
