Friday, November 09, 2012 by Tim Geyssens

So now you know about all the new stuff coming up in Contour 3.0 (code first, conditional logic, full markup control, easier to work with lots of forms) and wanna give the beta a try. Here’s a quick guide to get you going:

Download the package

You can get the beta package from the build server http://nightly.umbraco.org/Umbraco%20Contour/3.0%20WIP/

Install the Beta

Go to the developer section > Packages > Install local package and follow the installation wizard

Add script references

The new razor form render needs jQuery, jQueryUI, jQuery validate and jQuery validate unobstrusive. So you’ll need to add those to the head section of your template/view

	 <script src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jQuery/jquery-1.8.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
	 <script src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery.ui/1.8.22/jquery-ui.js"></script>
     <script src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/jquery.validate/1.10.0/jquery.validate.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
     <script src="http://ajax.aspnetcdn.com/ajax/mvc/3.0/jquery.validate.unobtrusive.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Add the form to your page

Use the insert macro button the insert the contour form macro

Insert form dialog needs work, it's kind of cramped, the word 'Razor' makes no sense to the average content editor, and it doesn't display the right type of information about a form (missing a preview of the fields, and missing the actions that the form will take).

    Thanks for your consideration!

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but is there a road map for eventual final production release.

    Umbraco 4.11 Contour 3.
Have done as suggested but get the following error message
Umbraco Contour will only work properly if placed inside a tag.

Have searched everywhere looking for an example of how to wire up a form in 4.11 MVC but to no avail.

Tried adding the MVC runat equiv (@using (Html.BeginForm) but that just gave me an empty box with some dots in it!

Can the forms be added as macros in the templates?
It would be nice to see some MVC examples of how to use Contour.

    Thanks
