The Friendliest beta ever - Umbraco 7.6
The world isn’t black and white, so why should the friendliest CMS on the planet be? While there’s many improvements in Umbraco 7.6, the one you’ll notice immediately is the updated UX that’s finally makes your favorite CMS as warm and colorful as its community.
We’re sure you’re going to love the new friendly feel and with Umbraco 7.6 beta out, we encourage you to start trying it today.
Greater pickers that finally love List Views
7.6 isn’t just about the looks, it’s also continuing our mission on creating simpler editor experiences with every release and this time special care has been taken to the Content, Media and Member pickers that editors rely on. We’ve made them even easier to use and for list views it’s finally obvious to pick the content you’re looking for.
Better built-in editors
Another focus area for Umbraco 7.6 is making it easier for new developers to get familiar with the way templating works. This work started at last year's Umbraco Codegarden Retreat where a mix of core people, Umbraco Trainers and opinionated community Umbracians got together and brainstormed and prototyped a more friendly approach to the built-in Template and script editors.
The end result is a set of new editors that combines contextual help and descriptions with the latest in web based editors re-written in Angular to ensure they’re as friendly as they’re fast
Learnings from Cloud and v8
Under the surface you’ll find a lot of other improvements that’s a direct result of R&D work from Umbraco 8 that we decided to bring to v7 as well as optimisations learned from running more than a thousand active Cloud projects. This includes performance and security enhancements, a new feature called “Scope” for better CRUD handling and finally a smarter way of relating Umbraco nodes to each other through a new type of identifier called “UDI” - think GUIDs for Umbraco nodes.
Try it today and help us release it faster
All in all, Umbraco 7.6 may bear the version number of a minor, but is an upgrade that would be worthy of a major number. A big help and contribution is if you could download the beta today and try it out yourself. Try upgrading one of your own sites and give us feedback in this forum post or submit bugs on the tracker.
The more help we get, the faster we can release 7.6 thus the faster your clients will get an even better and friendlier user experience, making them even more convinced that Umbraco is the Friendliest CMS they’ve experienced and the best choice.
