Umbraco 7.1.0 and 6.2.0 beta now available

We have a newborn at Umbraco today, we named it: new member API. Yes, the rumors are true, we are introducing her in beta versions of Umbraco 7 and 6 today! After updating the Content and Media APIs last year, we now also updated the members API and it looks and feels a lot like the Content and Media APIs.

We've also reworked the Membership providers that Umbraco uses for both Users and Members to be completely up to date.

In the past few weeks we've been testing and tweaking these new bits and they feel solid now. But we want to give you a chance to test this and make sure we didn't miss anything. So, if you're running a site that is using members or users in an interesting way (think of things like custom membership providers, active directory access, etc.) we would love your input to see if this all still works as expected. All of the old APIs are still there so these versions of Umbraco should be completely backwards compatible.

Additionally for the v7 version we've simplified the install and upgrade process. We're really happy with the result and would love your feedback on that as well (both for fresh installs and upgrades). And, v7.1.0 is completely backwards compatible with v7.0.4 so upgrading should be smooth.

Lastly, we've also added an Image Cropper property editor into 7.1, expect further details on this editor in a future blog post. Eager beta testers can access this editor in 7.1 beta, by adding a new data type and selecting "Image cropper" it in the list of editors.

You can download the new betas now from our downloads page, happy testing!
