Vitaly Friedman Masterclass at CG18

“My favorite thing was when he talked about performance and talked about pro's and con's of using HTTP/2 vs. HTTP 1.1. Many people think that HTTP/2 is a straightforward thing. Turns out that there is a couple of things to consider and deal with.
And then I of course love his passion for the web and the way he presents. You have no doubt that he really knows what he is talking about and that he has a lot of experience”

Jan Skovgaard, Senior Frontend Developer at DIS/PLAY, attendee at Friedman’s masterclass at Codegarden 2017.

Vitaly's energy and expertise is impressive. I felt like I received a broad look into the latest and greatest web technologies and a deep dive into a few specific topics all at the same time.
I think my favorite part of the class was the list of resources that I received at the end of the class. I may not remember every detail about the class, but that list of resources has been valuable to review and reflect on when diving in to some of the newer tech and topics that he covered.

Vitaly FriedmanAt Codegarden 2018 you also get the chance to attend this learning-packed Masterclass.

The Friedman Masterclass at Codegarden 2018.

With HTTP/2, Service Workers, Responsive Images, Flexbox, SVG, WAI-ARIA roles and Font Loading API now available in browsers, we all are still trying to figure out just the right strategy for designing and buildings responsive websites efficiently. We want to use all of these technologies and smart processes like atomic design, but how can we use them efficiently, and how do we achieve it within a reasonable amount of time?

In this masterclass, Vitaly Friedman, editor-in-chief of Smashing Magazine, will be looking into a strategy for crafting fast, resilient and flexible responsive design systems by utilizing all of those wonderful shiny web technologies we have available today. We'll also talk about dealing with legacy browsers and will cover a few dirty little techniques that might ensure that your responsive websites will stay relevant, flexible and accessible in the years to come.

Beware: you won’t be able to unlearn the things that you’ll learn in this workshop!

Who is this masterclass relevant for?

Masterclass attendeesReady to learn how to do things better? Even discover brand new functions and ways of working?

It’s clear that Friedman’s workshop is highly relevant if you work with frontend development… but who better to ask the above question than the people who’s actually attended the masterclass:

I don't like the terms "Frontend" and "Backend" developers very much since I think that there is a lot more to web development these days and some fit in both categories and some don't. So I guess I'll say that anyone who has a great passion for building performant websites and want to learn a bunch of new techniques for doing more with less Jan Skovgaard, Senior Frontend Developer at DIS/PLAY, attendee at Friedman’s masterclass at Codegarden 2017.

Vitaly's class is excellent for any front-end devs who are interested in learning about the latest and greatest technologies, processes, and tools that the world's largest websites use. Getting a broad survey of the leading edge of the web world is exceptionally useful to determine the best direction to focus for your agency. If you are a leader at an Agency who has the role of "CTO" then this can also help you understand what's out there, what's coming, and what your team needs to get up to date on.
