Since my last Docs Diary entry a lot of stuff has happened on the Umbraco Documentation repository. I encouraged you guys to contribute - and boy did you contribute! Me and my fellow documentation curators have been reviewing new pull requests almost on a daily basis. We love it! Keep ‘em coming!

I'd like to give a special shout-out to Owain Williams, Bjarne Fyrstenborg and Chriztian Steinmeier - we’ve merged a total of 8 PR’s from those guys in the past few weeks! #H5YR! 😃

Today I’m going to give you a quick little update on what I’ve been working on these past few weeks.

5 New and Updated Docs

Courier section for Umbraco Cloud >>

As some of you might know, Umbraco Cloud used to be powered by Umbraco Courier. Now we are using Umbraco Deploy - which is basically the same thing, except it’s not, it’s much better 😉 (Courier VS Deploy). In the Umbraco Cloud documentation we used to have troubleshooting guides for Umbraco Courier and Umbraco Deploy all mixed together in the same articles. It didn’t exactly make it easy to figure out which guide you were supposed to follow.

This is why I took the liberty to move all the guides related to Umbraco Courier into its own section. This makes it easier for the few that are still using Courier on Umbraco Cloud to find what they need, meanwhile, avoiding unnecessary confusion for those using Deploy. Now, if your Umbraco Cloud project uses Umbraco Courier and you run into some issues, this is where to go:

Best practices: Rewrites on Umbraco Cloud >>

When you are making rewrites rules on your Umbraco Cloud project there are a few things that you need to be aware of. This is why I’ve now written an article about best practices when doing just that.

Automagical upgrades >>

One of the many benefits of having an Umbraco Cloud project is the auto-upgrades; whenever we release a new patch for any of our products, we automagically / automatically roll out these patches to all Umbraco Cloud projects.

Sometimes you might experience that your project didn’t receive the auto-upgrade - there could be a number of reasons for this, and these have now been documented!

Sensitive Member data >>

Related to the newest Minor version, Umbraco 7.9, our security guru, Sebastiaan, has written a few notes on how the use the new “Sensitive  data” feature in Umbraco 7.9.

This new feature was added as part of helping you be GDPR compliant. As we work more  with GDPR we will create documentation on new features as needed.

Umbraco Cloud REST API >>

Just two days ago I published a new article to the Umbraco Cloud section on the documentation - this time documenting the Umbraco Cloud REST API which you can use to easily automate project creation and team management! Don’t you just love it when things can run automagically?

New Numbers!

As I also mentioned earlier we’ve been merging in Pull Requests like crazy these past few weeks: a total of 67 PRs have been merged in!! We are now down to having 12 active PR’s and 41 issues on the Issue Tracker. This, of course, means that there’s plenty of room for more PR’s 😉

That was it for me this time! 😃

By the way, did you notice the change we’ve made on Our 🙈 ? (pssst... if you couldn't spot the change I can reveal that there's now a brand new Download page and we've moved the "Contribute" page onto GitHub)

So long.

- Sofie 😁
