Working for: Contractor
Role: Senior Web Developer
Time working with Umbraco: 7 years, I started my journey with Umbraco from version 4.7
I clearly remember the time when I was asked to assist building a website for a client using Umbraco back in 2011. It was terrifying because it was a huge website and there was so much to deliver in a very short time-span. It was my first Umbraco project and I had to learn and help deliver the website which was quite challenging. But the end result was amazing and I can very well say that was how I started on my journey with Umbraco.
Another special moment is when my first ever PR got merged into the core.
Right from my first ever website which I assisted building in Umbraco to the work I am doing now. It has been an incredible journey so far and I feel there is more yet to come.
I am a part of the Umbraco PR team and that’s something that brings a smile to my face.
Another proud achievement is that my 3 year old very confidently recognizes the Umbraco logo. She loves the Umbraco t-shirts and she tells me that I should wear them a lot!
The community. We are a very friendly community and very original. And of course the CMS which is so versatile.
Currently I am working with Guide Dogs for the Blind as their developer.
I am also a part of the PR team which means I try to spend some time on the PRs.
I have been weak on the contributions front. May be time to step that up. It's going to be challenging given my normal day is so busy with work and being a mummy, but I am sure I will get there.
I have finally realised I have grown up enough to read Harry Potter. Even though it's far from a way to relax given that I am glued to Harry Potter at the moment.
This year, I have also read some classics from Malayalam (the language spoken in Kerala, India and that’s where I am from), the novels Randamoozham and Naalukettu.
Both are works by the renowned Indian author M.T.Vasudevan Nair. While the first one left me with a tug at my heart, the second one was a different take on Mahabharatha.
That I am a singer. I used to learn Indian Classical Music in the past and now I have started my lessons again.
I listen to a wide variety of music. But more than playing something on repeat on my headset it's usually me who wakes up in the morning with a song in my head and keeps singing that the whole day.
