FCIÖ

A Modern Look for a Modern Industry

The Austrian Chemical Industry Association (FCIÖ) now has a website that is modern, flexible, and easy to use. A modular system and clear visual language have not only refreshed the design, but also made editing easier. The result is a well-thought-out website that grows with the association and shows how digital communication works today.

Background

The Austrian Chemical Industry Association (FCIÖ) represents a highly innovative and forward-looking industry in Austria. Yet its digital presence no longer reflected that role. The existing website had become outdated, both visually and technically, and was unable to adequately support modern communication needs or convey the association’s brand identity.

Editorial workflows were another pain point. The old platform offered limited flexibility and made it difficult for the internal teams to present information in a dynamic and engaging way. Furthermore, the extranet, an important tool for members stood apart from the main website both visually and technically, resulting in a fragmented user experience.

The challenge was clear, FCIÖ needed a contemporary, flexible, and easy-to-manage platform that could present the association as a modern voice for the chemical industry, provide a seamless experience for members, and empower internal teams to create and maintain content more efficiently.

Solution

Together with seeyou, MBIT designed a solution based on Umbraco CMS, chosen for its flexibility, scalability, and user-friendly interface. The focus of the project was not just to modernize the look and feel, but to provide a sustainable foundation for long-term digital growth.

A modular content framework was introduced, giving editors a toolbox of building blocks that could be freely combined to create diverse page layouts while maintaining a consistent visual style. Reusable templates for recurring content types helped to streamline editorial processes, ensuring efficiency without sacrificing creativity.

The extranet was not left behind. Instead, it was visually harmonized and integrated into the new design system, ensuring that both external and internal users experience a coherent and professional digital environment. To ensure a smooth transition, MBIT provided comprehensive training sessions and manuals, equipping editorial teams with the skills and confidence to manage the platform independently.

This approach combined cutting-edge technology with strong usability principles, ensuring that the solution not only met immediate needs but also provided a robust base for future extensions and digital initiatives.

Impact

The new digital presence transformed the way FCIÖ communicates and presents itself. The association now benefits from a modern, credible, and engaging website that better reflects the innovative character of Austria’s chemical industry. The modular framework has simplified content creation, giving editorial teams more freedom and efficiency while ensuring design consistency across the platform.

The seamless integration of the extranet has eliminated the fragmentation of the past and strengthened the association’s digital identity. Members and users now experience a unified, professional environment across all touchpoints, which reinforces trust and credibility.

Beyond the technical and visual improvements, the project also strengthened the working relationship between FCIÖ, MBIT, and seeyou.

The impact of the project extends beyond the website itself. With streamlined editorial workflows, a future-ready technical foundation, and a cohesive brand experience, FCIÖ is well-positioned to expand its digital strategy and continue representing the chemical industry in Austria with authority and clarity.
