Midwest Orthopaedics at RUSH (MOR)

Transforming MOR’s Website with Scalable Umbraco CMS

Midwest Orthopedics at RUSH partnered with Marcel Digital to replace an inflexible CMS with Umbraco. The new solution significantly improved content management, website performance, and user autonomy. MOR now has a scalable, efficient platform that supports its digital strategy and long-term growth.

Background

Midwest Orthopaedics at RUSH (MOR), a renowned orthopedic care provider affiliated with RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago, recognized an opportunity to enhance its digital presence and streamline website management. Their existing Drupal-based CMS was rigid and difficult to update, turning minor edits like layout adjustments into time-intensive tasks. These inefficiencies limited the marketing team’s ability to respond quickly to content needs and stifled scalability. MOR required a more flexible, intuitive system to support their growth and improve both backend usability and frontend performance.

Solution

Marcel Digital partnered with MOR to deliver a tailored solution using Umbraco CMS. After analyzing the existing pain points, Marcel Digital developed a strategic roadmap to overhaul MOR’s web infrastructure. Umbraco was selected for its flexibility, scalability, and user-friendliness. The project featured collaborative planning sessions, user training, and seamless integration with branding efforts.

A block grid editor was introduced to give editors real-time visual previews and enhanced control. Structured templates for provider and location pages streamlined consistency, while content automation minimized manual work. These enhancements ensured a more empowering and efficient content management experience for the MOR marketing team.

Impact

Post-launch, the transformation was immediate. MOR’s marketing team gained full autonomy over content updates, eliminating dependency on developers for basic changes. The automated migration process saved significant time and reduced errors, while the improved page editor fostered the creation of dynamic, engaging content. Website performance improvements also led to better user experiences and internal operational efficiency.

By moving to Umbraco, MOR achieved a future-ready digital platform that supports ongoing growth and positions the organization for continued leadership in orthopedic care.
