A complete redesign and rebrand

Nonstop Ski & Snowboard, a snow sports tour operator, needed a complete redesign and rebrand of their website. What we had to do

The main challenge faced by tour operators is the ability to ensure that they are communicating with their target audience with highly relevant content, a typical challenge but made tougher by the need to manage a complex product offering alongside their web content. 

A key objective of the project was to ensure that the site correctly segmented the target audience serving up relevant content to a user’s specific interest while also ensure that the product was easily manageable.

How we did it

The system leverages Umbraco 7 with a heavy emphasis on custom development to manage the business data required by a tour operator. Wattle invested time in developing a completely bespoke custom solution that enabled Nonstop to edit all aspects of their business data including:

By tightly integrating this data into the Umbraco content structure with custom property editors we ensured that the content editors were able to manage site content alongside the package management aspects of the system.

The system has improved Nonstops' ability to produce rich engaging website content alongside a system that makes managing their complex product offering simple. The end result has been an increase of 76% in online lead generation.

Wattle approached the project via a series of workshops where we obtained a comprehensive understanding of the operational processes behind all aspects of their business, leveraging that information we were able to map out the competitive landscape and identify where opportunities existed to increase their market share.

Our research is conducted leveraging both qualitative and quantitative data, by examining existing web analytics, sales records, customer feedback and industry specific publications and media we can establish a detailed map of the target market enabling us to develop a digital strategy that delivers results.

With the creative strategy and branding in place we were able to technically architect a solution based around the clients own internal business process enabling the users to work with data in a way that made sense to them.

Because Wattle work with Umbraco we were able to develop a completely tailored workflow process for managing their complex product offering across multiple regions and currencies.

This solution allows Nonstop to edit a complex hierarchal data set that has complex business rules, the key benefit of this approach was that the Wattle team were at this stage completely aligned with the Nonstop process enabling us to deliver a technical design that made sense to the end users.

The system was developed around a Microsoft Azure hosted system leveraging Umbraco 7. We ensured that the system leveraged the full power of MVC by creating strongly typed views that were bound to custom data models and data services.

In addition we made great use of the new grid features ensuring that users had access to a powerful responsive approach to developing blog content.
