Background
The Kinderhilfe Sternschnuppe Foundation supports children with disabilities and serious illnesses in experiencing unforgettable moments, for example through visits to zoos, museums, or leisure facilities. With the growing number of partner organizations and participating families, the existing, partially manual booking processes increasingly reached their limits.
Parents, schools, and institutions needed a simple and reliable way to book free tickets, even at short notice. Atthe same time, it was essential for the foundation to manage availability, partners, and billing in a transparent and efficient manner. The lack of a central digital solution led to high administrative effort, delayed responses, and limited flexibility for users.
Solution
In collaboration with OPTEN AG, a tailor-made web application was developed based on the Umbraco content management system. The solution provides a fully digital booking platform that allows parents, schools, and institutions to reserve tickets easily, securely, and independently.
All offers from partner organizations are centrally consolidated and managed via an interface to cobra CRM. Bookings are recorded automatically and assigned directly to the CRM system, ensuring transparent processing and efficient billing for the foundation. Users benefit from immediate booking confirmation and a clear overview of their reservations. Tickets are available directly in the app and include QR codes for fast and contactless entry at the respective partner institutions.
A strong focus was placed on usability, accessibility, and technical stability. The platform is designed to be scalable, enabling new partners, offers, or processes to be integrated and further developed with minimal effort.
Impact
The new platform significantly reduced administrative effort and enabled a much faster and more flexible booking experience. Families and institutions can now make spontaneous bookings, manage their tickets digitally, and access all relevant information such as directions or location-specific notes in one central place.
For the foundation, the solution resulted in clearly structured processes, increased data transparency, and a future-proof digital infrastructure. This allows the team to focus more strongly on its core mission: creating special experiences for children.
