Target Aid

An innovative fundraising platform leveraging Umbraco and the power of Azure

UKAD partnered with Target Aid to rebuild their platform for corporate social responsibility, making it more scalable and user-friendly. The new system supports multiple user types, preserves all legacy content, and introduces multilingual and multi-currency features to support growth across the Nordic region. With a clear structure and tailored tools, Target Aid is now well-positioned to expand its impact and make CSR more accessible to all.

Background

The purpose of Target Aid, a Swedish startup, is to simplify and make more accessible the idea of corporate social responsibility (CSR). It helps companies, nonprofits, sports clubs, and individuals find charities by providing options to donate, host events, and promote campaigns. The goal was clear: to make CSR something anyone can easily participate in, regardless of size or background.

However, turning that idea into a perfect solution presented challenges. The original website contained useful content, but it wasn't scalable enough for the platform's growth. It lacked flexibility and wasn't easy to update. Above all, the platform did not match the needs of all the types of users Target Aid wanted to serve.

Target Aid approached UKAD with a clear goal to build a stronger foundation to scale. The new platform needed to support multiple user roles, offer flexible content management and make it easy to launch campaigns. At the same time, nothing could be lost. Existing content had to be preserved and integrated into a new structure.

Solution

We partnered with Target Aid to design a web platform that could grow with their mission and serve a broad range of users, from sports associations to fundraisers. The platform had to be easy to manage, flexible enough to support future features, and structured to make charity work more visible and impactful.

We chose Umbraco as the content management system. Since it was well-structured but still simple, users were able to edit their websites on their own. React was chosen for the front end to ensure the application works well and smoothly across all kinds of devices.

Each user type, including companies, NGOs, sports associations, and individual fundraisers, now has access to tools tailored to their needs. They can create projects, launch fundraisers, promote events, and track donations. The editing interface is clear and intuitive, designed for people with no coding experience. For example, a fundraiser can set up a campaign in minutes, choosing focus areas based on UN sustainability goals and tagging available charity themes such as education or the environment.

To make content more effortless to navigate and campaigns easier to discover, we introduced a dedicated Explore page. This section gathers all active initiatives in one place and includes filters for both content and user type.

We also built modules that enhance transparency and engagement. The donations module displays incoming donations from donors on the profile page. The KPI module allows organizations to track the impact of each story, event, or campaign. Lastly, on the "About" page, content managers can include any necessary information to describe the fundraiser.

Throughout development, we ensured all content from the previous site was retained and reorganized into the new structure. Nothing was lost. Everything was made easier to find, edit, and expand.

Impact

The final platform brought Target Aid's vision to life in a way that is both practical and scalable. All existing content from the previous site was fully preserved and restructured, providing users with a smoother experience from day one.

Multilingual support was introduced to help Target Aid grow across the Nordic region. The first step was expansion from Sweden into Norway, with more areas to follow. Support for multiple currencies now allows donors from different countries to contribute with ease.

Each user type, a large company or an individual fundraiser, receives a tailored interface. Subscription options reflect the different ways people engage with content.

What makes the platform stand out is its ability to scale with the organization. UKAD's team worked closely with Target Aid across development, testing, and deployment to ensure a stable launch. With continued support in place, the platform is ready to meet new demands as Target Aid's reach expands.

Target Aid now has a reliable foundation for long-term CSR impact and the tools to help people act on what they truly care about.
