Background
Varberg Energi is a municipally owned energy and broadband provider, operating across electricity, district heating, gas, energy optimization, broadband, internet services, and energy solutions such as charging infrastructure, batteries, and solar power packages.
Rooted in tradition but driven by innovation, Varberg Energi continues to develop new services that support customers and the energy market of tomorrow.
As Varberg Energi’s strategic web partner, Fröjd was tasked with delivering a new website and an operational disruption reporting tool in Umbraco. The project modernized both design and user experience, with accessibility built in from the start to meet WCAG AA standards.
Solution
The new platform was designed to attract more customers while increasing self-service and reducing support needs.
Three key audiences, business, home owners and tech enthusiasts, guided the work.
Varberg Energi’s updated visual identity provided the foundation for a new digital concept—one that reflects the company’s local roots in Varberg while highlighting its innovative edge. The design system was captured in a digital style guide to support efficient development across both the website and the operational information application.
The concept phase also included UX and navigation work focused on usability and conversion, supported by user testing to validate the experience.
The solution is built on Umbraco 15 and .NET 9, using a headless architecture with a Next.js frontend for speed, scalability, and optimized SEO performance. The CMS is hosted on Umbraco Cloud, with the frontend deployed in a secure Azure environment. Contract flows are integrated through Lime CRM.
Impact
Launched in October 2025, the new website is a flexible, sustainable, and user-friendly platform that strengthens Varberg Energi’s brand and meets the needs of its diverse audiences.
