What is a gymnast doing at Umbraco? Well, it's a well-rounded story; computers, globe-trotting and somersaults. Give a high-five to the newest face in the Umbraco family, Alexander! An energetic and enthusiastic person who recently started working as an intern in our Support Team. From the gym to a computer desk. He's really been on an amazing journey 🤩 Dive right into his story:

Breaking the ice 🧊⛏

Hey there 😊 My name is Alexander Larsen and I’m quarter of a century old. I couldn’t be happier to say that I’m a part of the amazing support team. As an intern, it is my chance to learn everything I can and hopefully pick up great friends on the way. The education I have is as a multimedia designer from UCL and I am now completing my Bachelor in Web Development.

Throughout my quarter of a century, I have been teaching, coaching and helping people in sports, school and also in professional settings. That was why I had applied to the SWAT team at Umbraco. One of the things that make my everyday life much better, is to share smiles and laughs with others. Joy, positivity and unicorn vibes can always be used in an everyday setting 😄

A love for movement 🤸

As the new guy in town, I’d like to tell you a bit about myself. I’m born and raised on Fyn, and now live in Odense. Being a gymnast from a young age, I have always loved using my body to move, dance, jump and perform in the spectrum of gymnastics.

In 2015 I chose to be at Ollerup Gymnastics high school to live and breathe gymnastics and meet others from all around the world who shared my passion. The friends I met turned on a 🔥, a desire and gave me the opportunity to travel and maybe one day live for some time in another country.

Sidenote 🎮

Apart from gymnastics, I have always had a passion for computers and technology. Reading tech magazines, watching Troldspejlet (Danish TV program), taking apart old gadgets or buying new ones and learning what and how I can use them. Gaming has also been a big part of my computer passion; World of Warcraft, Tekken and CS:GO. Being competitive with friends or more casually relaxing after a long day. Being a part of communities has always been fun and a good learning experience, which consisted of meeting new people and working together with strangers to complete a common goal, trying to solve puzzles, winning over the opposite team. Whatever the goal was, I wanted to be helpful.

Exploring new grounds 🌍

Gymnastics have taken me around Denmark, Germany, Austria and Australia. During my travels, I have also had the opportunity to become an accredited SCUBA diver, go climbing and canyoning, and see many amazing natural wonders.

Seeing another part of the world and talking to people is always fun and interesting. I learnt a lot from visiting e.g. Bali, Egypt and even Turkey, not necessarily how to speak the language, but how people from another culture speak to each other, and how they express emotions and intentions. It could be both via words or the tone of voice.

My role in Umbraco

In my role in SWAT, I'm going to be working with helping customers, the community and Umbraco friends. This includes primarily sitting in the support channels answering questions, help sorting issues and making sure that everyone who is interacting with Umbraco, is going to have a great experience no matter what question or issue they may have.

Just the beginning 🗻

I am a fun-loving guy who enjoys spending time joking with my friends, learning, and taking on new adventures. I love a good challenge and I am excited about the new ones ahead of me in my new role. As I´m starting in the SWAT team, I get even more excited to help and I am looking forward to working with our community and customers as we go on this journey together!

Loved by developers, used by thousands around the world!

One of the biggest benefits of using Umbraco is that we have the friendliest Open Source community on this planet. A community that's incredibly pro-active, extremely talented and helpful.

If you get an idea for something you would like to build in Umbraco, chances are that someone has already built it. And if you have a question, are looking for documentation or need friendly advice, go ahead and ask on the community forums.
