Background
For over 100 years, The Tipton & Coseley Building Society has provided savings products and bespoke mortgage packages across the West Midlands.
However, their existing website, built in 2016 on Umbraco 8, was approaching end-of-life. The platform lacked modern functionality, user journeys were outdated and key processes such as mortgage Decision in Principle (DIP) applications remained offline.
To drive customer engagement, improve retention and increase conversions, a complete digital overhaul was required.
Solution
Umbraco upgrade
We migrated the platform from Umbraco 8 to 13, ensuring long-term stability, improved performance and a futureproofed CMS.
Detailed UX testing
Through competitor analysis and in-depth usability reviews, we informed tree testing and navigation redesign. These insights shaped a clearer site architecture and a more intuitive user journey.
Improved online DIP form
Previously a print-based process, we developed a streamlined, fully online Decision in Principle form. Featuring interdependent questions and improved usability, the new form simplifies the experience and aligns the brand with modern competitor standards.
New customisation features
We introduced an Affordability Calculator that dynamically surfaces relevant products based on loan value, helping users quickly identify suitable options.
Enhanced CMS functionality
Custom product importers were implemented to significantly reduce the time and effort required for editors to manage and update content.
Impact
In partnership with The Tipton, we have futureproofed their digital platform and delivered a transformed online experience.
The new website significantly improves navigation, accessibility and the way customers explore financial products, positioning the Society for continued growth in a competitive market.
