It’s time for another quick Product Update from Umbraco. We are now a couple of weeks into the “Umbraco working from home” setup, and while it has required a few adjustments as announced in previous updates, I’m happy to report that we are generally moving forward according to the updated plan as we continue to prepare and ship new value for multiple platforms.

A few highlights from recent updates and upcoming initiatives:

  • Umbraco 8.6 was released this week. This new version of the CMS includes increased stability for hosting Umbraco on Azure, new functionality to keep track of your media data usage across content and a ton of other cool improvements coming in from community contributions. Go check out the details in the official Umbraco 8.6 release post.

  • In the past few weeks, we’ve also introduced security improvements that you should be aware of. If you haven’t already, check out the recent security advisory on Umbraco CMS and on Umbraco Forms and make sure your Umbraco project is up-to-date.

  • Last week we updated all of Umbraco Cloud to use TLS 1.2 and no longer support TLS 1.0 and 1.1. With this update, Umbraco Cloud is up to the best practice standards as advised broadly in the industry. You can read more about the TLS update in this previous Product Update.

  • This week also introduced new versions of Umbraco Forms; 8 with quite a few stability improvements and bug-fixes. You can check out the changelog for the new versions here. As we continue to work on Forms improvements, more can be expected in the near future.

  • We are continuing the work on the new block editor, which will make it easier for content editors to manage simple structure layout (blocks) in combination with the content within the layout. You can read more about it in the previously accepted RFC.

As always you can follow our planned initiatives and expectations on our Roadmap.

Heartcore in the wild

Finally, I want to highlight a couple of recent projects based on Umbraco Heartcore - our Headless offering. Check out how Nueva helped Feldschlösschen launch their new beautiful website entirely on a JAMSTACK based on Vuejs, Nuxt and of course content coming from Umbraco.

We’re enjoying the feedback we get from the first Heartcore projects and are currently working on the GraphQL support and our preview API.
You can try the Friendly Headless CMS for free here.

I want to thank all of you for showing extraordinary support of Umbraco in these days. We are doing everything we can in return to keep things running as smoothly as possible. It’s a pleasure working with all of you in the Umbraco community and in our partner network -#H5YR!

Don’t hesitate to reach out on product@umbraco.com with any questions, feedback or suggestions.

All the best,

Jacob
