CareTech

Bringing 16 websites into one manageable platform

CareTech had grown a complex set of websites that were hard to manage and even harder for users to navigate. Working with Kayo Digital, they brought 16 sites into a single Umbraco platform, making content easier to manage and information easier to find. The result was a clearer experience for users, better data for the marketing team, and a noticeable lift in engagement and careers traffic.

Background

CareTech wanted a new website that was easier for users to navigate and better reflected how people actually look for information.

At the time, the main CareTech site was built on Drupal. Over 15 other brand websites were running on a shared Sitecore setup. Managing content across all of these sites was complex, unruly and time-consuming, and it was hard for the marketing team to manage the brand’s digital footprint.

They needed a modern CMS that could:

  • manage all sites from one place

  • give clearer insight into performance through reliable data

  • support international versions of the site

  • encourage recruitment

  • meet growing cyber security requirements

  • reduce long-term running costs

Solution

CareTech worked with Kayo Digital to redesign and rebuild the website with a stronger focus on user experience.

The new platform was built on Umbraco 17 and set up as a multisite. This allows all CareTech websites to be managed within a single CMS, rather than across separate systems.

Key elements of the solution included:

  • One CMS and a single login to manage 16 websites

  • Central control over user permissions, so access can be tightly managed

  • Cleaner analytics data through Google Consent Mode v2 and GA4

  • Support for both UK and Arabic versions of the website

  • Website built and tested to OWASP standards

  • Lower total cost of ownership as a result of the simplified setup

Impact

The new website has led to clear improvements in how users interact with the site:

  • Engaged users per session increased by more than 40%

  • Average engagement time per user increased by around 700%

  • People visiting the careers website has increased by 25%
