Louisa Foods

A new Umbraco Cloud solution for a family-owned business in St. Louis

Louisa Foods is a St. Louis based, family-owned business that got started more than 55 years ago. They prepare fresh-made pastas, appetizers, & sauces and needed a new solution that showcased the diverse set of products they carry, how to get them, and inspire others to create dishes that nonna would be proud of. Turn Agency was up for the challenge and created the user experience design, and then developed all of the front-end and back-end work to re-platform on Umbraco. The new Umbraco Cloud solution offers unique components to present content with and a very easy content authoring process. Unfold the full story 👇

Background

Louisa Foods is a family-owned food business based in St. Louis with more than 55 years of history. The company makes fresh pastas, appetizers, sauces, and a wide range of Italian-inspired products for both retail customers and foodservice buyers.

The challenge was not just showing the products. It was helping very different audiences find what they needed without making the website feel crowded.

A home cook might come to the site looking for recipes, nutrition facts, preparation instructions, or nearby stores that carry Louisa products. A restaurant operator might need foodservice resources, product information, high-resolution photography, or ways to manage costs more efficiently. Brokers needed their own secure place to access sales and marketing materials.

Louisa Foods needed a website that could support all of those needs in one clean experience. Turn Agency led the user experience design, front-end development, and back-end development to move Louisa Foods to Umbraco Cloud.

Solution

Turn Agency used Umbraco Cloud to create a flexible website experience that supports retail customers, foodservice operators, and brokers from one content management setup.

The new site makes Louisa’s product range easier to explore. Visitors can move through the product structure to find recipes, nutritional information, preparation instructions, retail locations, and resources for restaurant operators. That matters for a brand with a large catalog, including more than 46 types of ravioli alone.

Turn also separated the experience by audience. Retail visitors can find stores that sell Louisa products, browse recipes, and apply for jobs. Foodservice users get content built around their needs, including resources for operators and chefs. Brokers can log into a password-protected portal with useful sales materials and high-resolution product photography.

Behind the scenes, Turn built three connected website experiences inside one Umbraco editing environment: a retail site, a foodservice site, and a secure broker portal. Each area has its own components, while shared content can still be reused across the site.

That made content management much easier for the Louisa team. For example, a recipe can be entered once and then appear in the recipe archive, on the related product page, and in featured content areas without being rebuilt in multiple places.

Impact

The new Umbraco Cloud website gives Louisa Foods a stronger way to present its products, support multiple audiences, and manage content without unnecessary duplication.

Retail customers can discover products, recipes, nutrition details, preparation instructions, and store locations more easily. Foodservice operators can find practical resources built around their buying needs. Brokers have a secure portal for the assets they need to promote Louisa products.

For the internal team, the biggest gain is control. Louisa Foods now has a more efficient authoring experience, reusable content components, and one editing environment that supports several parts of the business at once.

The result is a food and beverage website that does more than display products. It connects recipes, products, retail locations, foodservice resources, and broker materials in a way that is easier for customers to use and easier for Louisa Foods to maintain.
