The MWCDEM website was built to close a real gap, giving approximately 250,000 people across seven geographically diverse districts a single, accessible platform for emergency preparedness, with content tailored to how different audiences (homes, farms, schools, marae, workplaces) actually think about their own risks.
The design prioritises clarity and trust under pressure, with bilingual navigation, a mobile-first layout, and a live ArcGIS situation map that shifts the site from a static resource into a dynamic emergency tool. Built on Effect's proven emergency management framework deployed across nine CDEM groups nationally the platform brings sector-tested information architecture and the resilience needed to perform when it matters most.
