SUSA

One digital platform replacing 15 locations

SUSA partnered with TRES to replace fragmented processes and systems with one central digital platform built on Umbraco CMS. What once operated across 15 local branches is now managed through one scalable digital environment that gives thousands of students and employers 24/7 access to everything they need.

Background

SUSA supports thousands of students every day with flexible jobs that fit around their studies. As SUSA grew from 15 local branches into one national organisation, information and processes became increasingly fragmented across multiple systems and teams. Students, employers and internal teams often had to switch between platforms to manage schedules, approvals, declarations and communication.

This fragmentation created unnecessary complexity and made it difficult to deliver a consistent digital experience. At the same time, SUSA’s audience increasingly expected mobile-first, self-service solutions that were always available and easy to use.

SUSA needed one central digital platform that simplified complex processes, connected existing systems and created a seamless experience for students, employers and employees alike.

Solution

Together with TRES, SUSA developed a central digital platform built on Umbraco CMS. The solution combines a new website, personalised portal and native mobile app from one single codebase. The platform services an integrated digital environment for students, employers and internal teams.

The platform automatically synchronises vacancies and business information from Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics, ensuring all content stays real time and up to date. Students can independently manage timesheets, expenses and holiday pay, while employers can review and approve hours through one central dashboard.

A key focus throughout the project was usability. The platform was designed mobile-first to match the behaviour and expectations of SUSA’s student audience. Content and functionality dynamically adapt to each user, creating a personalised experience that makes complex workflows simple and intuitive.

By integrating multiple systems into one scalable platform, TRES helped SUSA create a future-ready digital foundation that can continuously evolve alongside the organisation.

Impact

The new platform transformed the way SUSA supports students, employers and internal teams. What once operated across 15 separate branch environments is now managed through one central digital platform, creating a consistent and scalable digital experience across the organisation.

Thousands of students now use the platform every day to independently manage work-related administration anytime and anywhere. When students are one round short at the bar, they can instantly cash out their accrued holiday pay - powered by real-time payroll integrations and financial-grade accuracy. Employers benefit from faster approvals and real-time information, while internal teams work more efficiently with fewer manual actions and less operational complexity.

The platform gives SUSA a scalable digital foundation that supports continuous growth and ongoing optimisation. By combining user-focused design, integrated technology and long-term collaboration, TRES helped SUSA turn fragmented processes into one intuitive digital experience.

“The digital platform is perfectly tailored to our target audience. Mobile use is central to it, and that’s evident in every aspect.”
