Scale your Umbraco Cloud project
Anticipating a traffic spike? Launching a campaign or a new product? Give your Umbraco Cloud projects the extra room they need to handle it all smoothly and reliably.
Add dedicated compute resources, Redis Cache, or a load balanced setup depending on what your project needs.
Instant Scale-Up
With Umbraco Cloud scaling options, you can quickly add the resources your project needs. Dedicated Resources add compute power and memory, Redis Cache adds a dedicated cache layer, and Load Balancing spreads traffic across multiple resources for Professional projects.
Your project is ready to perform at its best during high-traffic periods.
...and Scale Down
When traffic subsides, you can scale back down again. Reduce your dedicated resources, adjust your setup, or return to shared hosting when you no longer need the extra capacity.
Having full control over resources and spending makes planning and managing your projects stress-free.
Why scale your Cloud project?
Handle traffic peaks – Add extra resources when your project needs more room during campaigns, launches, seasonal peaks, or other high-traffic moments.
Improve performance predictability – Dedicated Resources give your project its own compute power and memory, helping it perform more consistently during busy periods.
Support caching and shared state – Redis Cache gives your project a dedicated cache layer for frequently used data or shared state, whether your project runs on a single resource or as part of a load balanced setup.
Add resilience with Load Balancing – For Professional and Enterprise projects, Load Balancing spreads traffic across multiple Dedicated Resources, supported by Redis Cache.
Dedicated Options for Umbraco Cloud Projects
Choose from several dedicated configurations designed to give production websites and high-traffic e-commerce sites enhanced performance. Each option varies by CPU cores and memory, so you can pick the best fit for your project.

Add Redis Cache when your project needs it
Some projects need more than the cache built into the application. Redis Cache gives your project a dedicated cache layer for frequently used data, shared state, or setups where multiple resources need to work together.
Redis Cache is available on any Umbraco Cloud plan. It can be used on its own, and is also included in load balanced plans, which use Redis Extra Small with high availability by default.
On its own, Redis Cache does not make your project load balanced. For Load Balancing, it works together with multiple Dedicated Resources.
Plan | Redundancy | GB | vCPU | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Redis Extra Small | Standard | 1 | 2 | |
Redis Extra Small | High | 1 | 2 | |
Redis Small | High | 1 | 2 | |
Redis Medium | High | 3 | 2 | |
Redis Large | High | 3 | 2 | |
Redis Extra Large | High | 12 | 4 |
Note: Redis Cache is billed as a monthly add-on and does not include an Umbraco Cloud subscription.
Scale further with Load Balancing
For larger or more business-critical projects, Load Balancing spreads traffic across multiple Dedicated Resources, helping your project handle higher demand with more resilience.
Load Balancing is available for Umbraco Cloud Professional and Enterprise projects. You can scale the number of instances up or down during the month, so your setup can follow changes in traffic and demand.
Load Balanced setups require Redis Cache. Redis Extra Small HA is used by default when Redis is not already added to the project, with larger Redis options available when needed.
How Load Balanced pricing works |
|---|
Base resource Extra instances Monthly rounding Redis Cache |
Example If you add 3 extra instances for 200 hours, the combined extra usage is 600 hours. This is billed as 1 extra Dedicated Resource for that month. |
