BBYO

Three Websites. One Umbraco Cloud Platform for BBYO’s Global Student Community

See how Phases migrated BBYO’s three U.S.-based websites from Kentico, WordPress, and Webflow to Umbraco Cloud, restructuring 5,000+ pages into one scalable CMS foundation for a global Jewish teen movement across 60+ countries and 700+ chapters.

Background

BBYO has built a rich digital presence across its main website, AZA and BBG, and BBYO Summer.

As those experiences grew, managing them across different platforms made it harder to give teams and visitors the joined-up experience BBYO wanted.

The opportunity was to bring everything together without losing the individuality and importance of each part of BBYO.

Building the new experience with Umbraco

Phases worked closely with BBYO to move the three websites onto one Umbraco Cloud platform.

More than 5,000 pages were carefully migrated and reorganized, giving BBYO a clearer structure while making the platform easier for its team to manage and grow.

Umbraco gave us the flexibility to create a shared foundation while still allowing each part of BBYO’s digital experience to feel purposeful and distinct.

Solution

Phases brought BBYO’s three websites together on Umbraco Cloud, creating one shared content environment for the new experience.

With more than 5,000 pages involved, the migration needed careful research, testing and content planning. The content was reorganized for the new platform rather than copied across in its previous form.

Reusable components and Blue State’s design approach gave BBYO’s editors flexibility to create and manage pages while keeping the experience consistent across the three websites.

Accessibility was considered throughout the build, supporting a platform that BBYO can continue to develop over time.

Impact

BBYO is a global movement: 20,000+ active teen members across 60+ countries, 400,000+ alumni, and partnerships with local Jewish organizations worldwide.

Three separate sites obscured that. The main hub, summer programmes and teen leadership experience each told part of the story, and no entry point told all of it. A family researching summer saw a summer website; a teen looking for leadership saw a leadership website.

One Umbraco Cloud platform fixed that. The full breadth of BBYO is now visible from wherever a visitor lands, while each part keeps its own voice. Content teams work in one structure instead of three.

The benefit carries past the website. With one source of truth, staff answering questions from teens, parents and partners point to the same information the site does, resulting in better service online and off.
