Background
OAS Federal Credit Union was founded in 1962 by colleagues at the Organization of American States. It now serves more than 8,500 members across 38 partner organizations, including National Geographic, with more than $290 million in assets. Its members live, work and relocate across borders.
The credit union's WordPress site no longer reflected that. The brand had aged, English and Spanish content had drifted apart, and the content that matters most to a financial institution was the hardest to maintain. Rates and disclosures were duplicated by hand across dozens of pages, so a single rate change meant a manual sweep of the site and a real risk of a mismatched figure reaching members. Every layout change needed a developer. OAS FCU wanted a rebrand, a fully bilingual experience, and a platform its own team could run.
Solution
Rates and disclosures were solved at the data layer. A centralized rate manager holds every published rate as structured content in the back office, so an update is entered once and propagates to every page, table, and product card that references it. A companion disclosure system automatically binds the correct disclosure to a product and a page, removing the manual copy-and-paste that compliance teams have to police.
Branch and ATM data was integrated with shared-branching and surcharge-free networks, including CO-OP, covering more than 35,000 fee-free ATMs. A guided account finder walks prospective members through a short set of questions and recommends the right product. We built English and Spanish as parallel content trees. Umbraco Engage delivers personalization and analytics, Umbraco Forms handles member-facing submissions, and all content was migrated from WordPress with a complete redirect map in both languages. Scandia delivered customized training and hosts the site on managed Azure with 24-hour monitoring.
Impact
The new oasfcu.org launched on April 30, 2026 with a modern brand and a platform the credit union runs itself.
Every page was reimagined on Scandia's widget system. Content is composed from widgets that carry their own design options, so an editor picks a layout variation from a menu instead of filing a ticket. The layout grids were rebuilt from scratch, and previews in the back office show what a page will actually look like while it is being built. Because design options are set at the widget level, new pages stay on brand. Editors compose, see the result, and publish in both languages without a developer.
Publishing a rate change now takes under 30 minutes, down from roughly two days of manual edits, a reduction of more than 90 percent, and mismatched rates across the site have been eliminated. Disclosure-related content corrections fell by more than 80 percent once disclosures were bound to products rather than maintained page by page. The guided account experience contributed to a 37 percent increase in online account-opening conversion.
OAS FCU publishes in both languages from one place, maintains its own rates and disclosures with confidence, and has the analytics through Umbraco Engage to keep improving the experience.
