About the Swedish Floorball Association
The Swedish Floorball Association was formed in 1981. Four years, later the association was adopted into the Swedish Sports Confederation and the sport grew rapidly. In 2023, the Swedish Floorball Association consisted of 840 clubs and 113,654 players. The Association’s mission is to develop the sport as well as the brand of the sport.
After years of collaboration between Umbraco Platinum Partner Toxic and the Swedish Floorball Association, the "Innebandy 2.0" project was initiated to raise the association's website to several levels. With various integrations and a mobile-first mindset, a new site was proudly launched on Umbraco Cloud.
The Challenge
When developing the new site on Umbraco Cloud, great emphasis was placed on UX design, user-friendliness, and mobile-first. The task was a new and simplified site for both visitors and editors, and not least for all the districts within the Association with several editor groups and levels. The site also needed to be integrated with the Association's administrative tools where, among other things, information about series and game schedules is published.
The Swedish Floorball Association was in contact with various web agencies before the choice fell on Toxic. Their high level of knowledge and experience with Umbraco Cloud together with interest and knowledge in sports were some of the decisive elements that led to our collaboration, says Thomas K:h Andersson, CTO/IT manager at the Swedish Floorball Association.
The Result
The result is a flexible and user-friendly site where mobile use is seen as a matter of course. The editor experience is improved, and continuous further development is ongoing to improve functionality. The new website uses Umbraco and is hosted with Umbraco Cloud. Umbraco fits the Swedish Floorball Association’s needs because it is block-based, flexible, and simplifies editing for both experienced and inexperienced editors.
The web has a connection to the Swedish Floorball Association's system called IBIS, where we retrieve courses from the various districts. There is also a function called "Find your team" which also talks to IBIS. We also built an API with a function that enables third parties to download news and pages from the site, as well as an import API to import news and pages from the previous site.
